Fire doors are a critical aspect of fire safety in any building, being part of the structure’s compartmentation to contain fires within areas of the building and slow the spread of fire and smoke so that escape routes remain safe for as long as possible. Under The Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005, the responsible person of a company must ensure that fire doors are installed and maintained as necessary to keep them fit for purpose at all times.
J L carpentry offer fire door inspections, measuring and installation services to help ensure that your premises has suitable fire doors which meet current standards and regulations, through every stage of the process. Our qualified surveyors and engineers can inspect existing fire doors, as well as measure, specify, and install new fire doors and frames with all essential hardware, purchased directly from us.
Building owners responsibility's. Completing a fire risk assessment or compartmentation survey to know what specification door should be installed and that the building itself is up to spec is recommended. It is your responsibility to govern whether apertures and openings are suitable for installation. We can point you in the right direction to understand more about this but ultimately our service is to install fully certified door units and provide certification for this service. We can arrange a 3rd party organisation to help you know what you require to keep your building compliant.

Fire door inspection
Our qualified inspectors will assess the condition and performance of your fire doors. Following the inspection you will receive a comprehensive fire door report detailing any compliance issues. Please not we only complete these surveys for compliance status. We will not certificate any doors that haven't been installed by ourselves.
For any fire doors purchased from JL carpentry, we can offer a certified installation service carried out by qualified fire door installers. Fire doors should be installed correctly to ensure proper compartmentation. After installation you will receive a certificate for this unit with a report showing how it was installed with photos for each step showing it been installed to regulations.
Maintenance
Depending on the risk area of the door units. You have a responsibility to have these doors regularly checked. This could be yearly or quarterly checks. We will complete our inspection form on each visit. If any maintenance is due on this unit we will raise these issues and book in to complete them. We don’t offer maintenance on any other door unit that hasn’t been handled by JL carpentry.
Measuring service
If you need help measuring the correct dimensions to order a new door from us then we can send a fully qualified installer to assist.
